Pickering House student accommodation is part of the Sheffield 2 student village offering a city centre location on 3 Kenyon Street. From here, both the University of Sheffield and Sheffield Hallam University can be reached within 15 minutes of walking. You can choose to live in Ensuite rooms in shared flats that come with a balcony. There are numerous amenities and services provided like kitchen clean, in-house housekeeping, printing services and on-site laundry area, only to name a few.

All shared flats at Pickering House Sheffield are inclusive of private ensuite rooms that are fully furnished with a bed, wardrobe, ample under-bed storage, modern bathroom and study area, so you can have your privacy and enjoy effective studying. All flats have a communal kitchen and lounge area, fully equipped with a fitted kitchen, dining table, chairs and sofas. This is the perfect space for you to put your cooking skills to practice, chill out with friends and interact with your flatmates as well as get to know them better.  There is an added luxury of a Balcony, where you can relax, soak some sun and enjoy the perfect English Summer evenings.

To serve this very purpose there are kitchen cleans that take place every two weeks as well as the in-house housekeeping team will make the communal lounge sparkly clean and fresh again. There is an on-site laundry area, so you will ever have to be burdened about carrying piles of dirty laundry across distances to the nearest Laundromat. If you are facing plumbing problems, mechanical issues or just need something fixed, you can call on the maintenance team to care of it. If you secure your accommodation and then for the above reasons are no longer able to attend the affiliated University, official written evidence from the University (and/or UCAS/relevant VISA authorities) must be sent directly to the Property Team within 3 calendar days of the results or decision being published. If sufficient evidence is provided, you will be eligible for release from the tenancy agreement and the full booking fee will be returned.

The following procedure applies to the below:

Change of mind
Booking different accommodation
Accepted onto a placement

If you do not wish to live for the above reasons, you will be required to find a replacement person to take over your tenancy. The replacement person must be a student and match the preferences of the accommodation (e.g. female only flat). The replacement person must sign a contract for the entire length of your tenancy and secure this with payment of the booking fee. If a replacement is found, you will be released from your tenancy agreement and we will return your booking fee in full. Please note that your booking fee will be retained, and you will remain liable for all accommodation fees until a replacement person is found.

If you wish to leave the accommodation due to illness or any extenuating circumstances, this will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. The request to cancel must be made in writing or via email and any accompanying documentation must also be provided. Cases may be escalated to the Tenancy Release Panel who will confirm their decision within 5 working days. Until a formal decision has been made, you will remain liable for all accommodation fees. If a tenancy release is not granted, you will be required to find a replacement person before you are released from your tenancy. Q. I'm an International student, do I need a UK Guarantor to book?

If you choose to pay termly, you are required to supply a UK guarantor who will guarantee to make your instalment payments if you are unable to. The Guarantor must be living in the UK, be in full-time employment or a homeowner. If you choose to pay your year's rent in full, you do not require a UK guarantor.

Guests are permitted for a maximum of 2 nights in any week. Please sign them in at the reception on arrival.

Q. Is there anywhere I can store my bike?

There are a number of external bike rails located in the courtyards.

Q. Where do I collect my post from?

You need to write your full address on all post (letters and parcels) so it is delivered directly to your flat. The office will take deliveries if you are out of your flat but please let us know. If your parcel is taken by the reception you will receive a slip in your post box to notify you, which should be brought to reception with photo ID.

Q. How do I report maintenance issues?

You can visit the reception to inform us of the issue. Our maintenance staff will fix the issue, or refer it to an external contractor if necessary.

Q. Can I change my room?

If there is any availability you may be able to transfer rooms. A charge may be incurred.

Q. Do I need to have a TV Licence?

You will need to purchase a TV licence if you wish to watch or stream live TV in your flat. This can be shared with flatmates.

Q. What events do you arrange on the site?

We arrange several events throughout the year, which are well publicised in the blocks.

Q. What about safety and security on site?

There are staff on the site 24 hours a day, including security guards outside of normal office opening hours.
