Updates to Policy
If you are an International Student, who wishes to apply for Semester 2 2020 accommodation but are unable to enter Australia due to Government Travel Restrictions, in relation to COVID-19, or a Domestic Student who is unable to attend University due to campus closures we have developed this flexible booking option for you.
• Any International Student who has applied at their nominated University, and is awaiting approval to travel to Australia.
• Any Domestic Student who has applied at their nominated University, and is awaiting confirmation that their courses will resume on campus.
More Information
Once you have secured your accommodation and entered into a Semester 2, 2020 Residential Agreement you will be eligible for this support option.
• Provide to us in writing the supporting official evidence stating that you are subject to Government Travel Restrictions relating to COVID-19 at a minimum of 14 days prior to the Residential Agreement contract start date
OR
• Provide to us in writing the supporting official evidence stating that your course will be delivered online.
• If you comply with these steps you will be refunded your Security Deposit, and Cleaning Fee (where applicable). Please note the Application Fee and Registration Fee (if applicable) are non-refundable.
• If the written notice is sent less than 14 days before the commencement of your Residential Agreement normal Early Termination policies apply.
Flexible Booking Policy
The policy will not apply where you have accepted a University Offer but you elect to defer or withdraw from your studies.
Q. What happens if i lose my key or fob key?
It's important to make sure that you always know where your keys are. If you do misplace your room key, please note that there is a $2.90 cost to replace your swipe card and $16 cost to replace your metal room key. These costs will be placed directly onto your account.
Q.How often will my room be inspected?
In conjunction with the RTA, inspections occur every 3 months.
Q. How much does it cost to do laundry?
There are 4 laundries across the village. They are coin operated and residents are required to use $1 or $2 coins to pay for their laundry. The price of a load of washing is $3/wash and a load of washing is $3/dry.
Q. Can I book common spaces?
The common spaces are for all students.
Q. Can I have people stay over?
As per the village rules, you can have a guest stay no more than 2 consecutive nights in a 7 day period
Q. Is there an after hour support?
Yes, there is always a staff member or resident assistant 24/7 for support, in case of an emergency
Q. Can I live at the village if I do not study at Murdoch university?
The Village accepts Murdoch University and MIT students only until the 1st of January, and if availability allows the village may open up to students from other tertiary facilities such as TAFE and Private College. For more information, please email [email protected].
