The bond amount equivalent to four weeks rent need to be paid, this will be kept as damage collateral. Refunded back at the end of the tenancy with any damage charge deducted. Rent is payable by direct debit either fortnightly, half yearly or annually from a nominated account (a surcharge of 1.9% applies for all credit card payments).
You can secure your room for 2022 and rest easy knowing that you have the peace of mind to cancel your Residential Agreement for the following reasons:
If you are an International Student that has not yet traveled to Australia and you are not able to enter the country due to Government travel restrictions in relation to COVID-19, you may cancel your Residential Agreement up to 14 days prior to the agreement start date.
If your course does not resume teaching on campus, you may cancel your Residential Agreement up to 14 days prior to the agreement start date.
If your course has moved to online-only teaching, you may cancel your Residential Agreement up to 14 days prior to the agreement start date. This policy does not apply if you have the option to take your course on campus but elect to take it online only.
If you are a domestic first-year student applying through UAC / VTAC / QTAC / TISC and you do not get accepted at the university you may cancel your Residential Agreement within 5 days of the UAC / VTAC / QTAC / TISC Main Round offers release date
If you are an International Student and you do not get your Visa, you may cancel your Resident Agreement within 5 days of receiving notification from the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
You will need to provide in writing, the supporting official evidence demonstrating you meet the criteria within the timeframes outlined above. You will need to provide your supporting evidence to [email protected] including your full name, application number, email, and phone number in your email.
If you have not yet moved in, you will be refunded your security deposit and any other upfront fees. If your contract has already started, you are liable for rent up to the date of notification / moving out of the village and your security deposit will be returned to you provided you have met the move-out conditions. However, application, registration, and cleaning fees (where applicable) are non-refundable.
Q. How is ECU Village different to a college?
ECU Village offers a self-catered, apartment-style living experience with no religious affiliations, traditions, hierarchies or set meal times. This means you have the freedom to do what you want when you want (within reason of course and subject to the Village Rules)
Independent lifestyle, 24 hours support, along with a range of exciting events and activities to help you meet new people and learn new skills.
In short, a fantastic balance between support and independence!
Q.How long are your residential agreements?
ECU Village runs on a 44-week residential agreement which allows residents to have constant access to their rooms and Village facilities throughout the academic year. All residents are required in their Residential Agreement to pay fees and charges over 44 weeks.
Q. Is catering available?
ECU Village doesn’t provide catering. However, each apartment has a full kitchen including a fridge, stovetop, microwave and cooking equipment so feel free to cook up a storm at any time of day.
Q. Can my partner live with me?
Spouses, partners, boyfriends or girlfriends can apply for accommodation at ECU Village, as long as they are students at ECU. Couples will be provided with individual rooms. Most of the rooms are single occupancy, however, there is a limited number of dual occupancy rooms available. Please contact for further information.
Q. Can I choose my roommate?
If you’d like to share a room with a friend, please specify this on your application form.
Q. How close is ECU Village to ECU and the CBD?
The Village is located on ECU’s Mount Lawley campus, just minutes from the University’s classrooms and recreational facilities. To give you an idea of how close you are to your classes, it takes approximately five minutes to walk to the cafeteria and bookshop, and just two minutes to the gym!
ECU Village is surrounded by an excellent array of restaurants, one of the biggest shopping centers in Western Australia and a wide range of sporting and recreational facilities. To top it all off, we’re just 10 minutes by bus from the city center!
Q. Do you provide a cleaning service?
All residents are responsible for keeping their rooms and apartments clean. A cleaning service can be organised for a fee.
Q. Do you provide internet access?
Broadband connectivity is available in every bedroom at the Village.
Q. Are pets allowed?
No pets, including fish, may be kept in the Village. Additionally, residents are not permitted to bring animals into any building of the Village. This rule does not apply to the extent that it restricts the keeping of a guide or hearing dog.
Q. Am I eligible for accommodation at ECU Village?
All ECU students are eligible to apply for accommodation at ECU Village, including research assistants and full-time, part-time, undergraduate and postgraduate students.
Q. Can I Live at the village if I do not study at ECU?
Students from ECU, WAAPA, and PIBT (Perth Institute of Business and Technology) are all eligible to live at the Village. If there is availability, ECU staff are also able to live at the Village.
