The Glasgow School of Art is commonly referred to as GSA. It is the only public self-governing art school in Scotland which provides university-level programmes in design, fine art and research in architecture. It was formed in the year of 1845 as the Glasgow Government School of Design but it renamed to The Glasgow School of Art in the year of 1853. The school is housed in a famous building in Glasgow which was built in 1897-1909 and is considered to be Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s masterpiece. The building suffered damage due to fires that broke out in May 2014 and June 2018.
