A - The Cardiff Central Police Station on King Edward VII Avenue is 15 minutes' walk away.

A - 6 minutes' walk away.

A - The closest gym can be found within the Capitol Shopping Centre which is a 5-minute walk.
Q - How far are the bus/train stations?
A - The Cardiff Queen Street train station is only a 5-minute walk away.

A - Just outside the Shand House.
Q - What's in my room?
A - Your room is fully furnished with: large bed, study desk & chair, wardrobe, shelves, shower and WC, flat screen TV and WiFi.
Q - What is included in the kitchen?
A - Kitchens come equipped with: modern fitted appliances, fridge with freezer compartment and breakfast bar with bar stool seating.
Q - Who cleans my flat?
A - You are responsible for cleaning your room.
Q - Can I bring a pet?
A - Sorry, pets are not permitted on any Derwent Students properties.
Q - Where can I do my laundry?
A - There is a laundrette on site.
Q - Can I personalise my room?
A - A large pin board is provided in the bedroom for posters. We ask that you don't put posters on your walls as any damage caused will be chargeable.
Q - Can I have guests to stay?
A - Guests are permitted for a maximum of 2 nights in any week. Please sign them in at reception on arrival.
Q - Is there anywhere I can store my bike?
A - There is a bike shed on site which is free to use.
Q - Where do I collect my post from?
A - Letters are sent directly to post boxes. We can sign for larger parcels, which you can collect from reception once processed.
Q - How do I report maintenance issues?
A - Any issues should be reported to reception.
Q - Can I change my room?
A - You may be able to change your room in exceptional circumstances if alternative rooms are available.
Q - Do I need to have a TV Licence?
A - You will need to purchase a TV licence if you wish to watch or stream live TV in your flat. It can be shared between flatmates.
Q - What events do you arrange on the site?
A - We arrange several events throughout the year, site staff will keep you informed of any upcoming events so keep your eyes and ears open.
Q - What facilities are there on site?
A - Laundrette, bike storage, lift, hospitality office, common room, CCTV.
Q - Can I store my possessions in the summer?
A - If you are staying with us for the next academic year we may be able to store non-valuable items.
Q - Can I book for summer?
A - This depends on availability. If we are fully booked, current students can extend their stay for a week, or new residents can arrive a week early.
Q - Can I arrive early?
A - Please contact the site team to check whether your room will be vacated and cleaned by the time you want to arrive.
Q - What about safety and security on site?
A - We have CCTV on site.
