What You Need to Know Before Moving to The UK

Live Aug 21, 2020

We are almost there, the next academic session is knocking on our door and we can’t wait to open it. Things are looking up and this academic year promises to be a blast. While we all want to get to the fun, we also want to “enjoy responsibly”. To make things easier for everyone, we’ve put together 7 things a student must do before heading to the UK.

Fire up your notes and bookmark this travel essentials’ list.

  • Basics first. The UK government implemented a policy of self-isolation for anyone arriving in the UK. Students coming to the United Kingdom must complete the passenger locator form (PLF). Make sure you carry this form (digital or hard copy) while travelling
  • Elevation requires Isolation. All international arrivals have to self isolate in their accommodation for a duration of 14 days.
  • New “update” available. Students are advised to review the latest advice regarding any country they make a stopover at on their way to the United Kingdom. (Necessary – Necessary)
  • With a little help from our friend. All students are required to carry masks and hand sanitizers with them while travelling.
  • Show me the money. Carry an international credit or debit card with you as it might get difficult to open a bank account while self-isolating. Avoid the use of cash as much as possible.
  • Guardians of travel. Most student homes have COVID-19 clauses, and it’s best that you keep a check on travel and health insurance
  • You’re almost there. Don’t leave anything for the last minute. Check and evaluate your commuting option to the secured accommodation before you board that flight

That’s all folks. The best days of your life are waiting for you. Travel safe and just wait for the movie to begin. It will be one hell of a ride. Seatbelts ON!
