Five Delicious Dishes Under $10 in Austin, Texas

Explore Aug 2, 2019

Austin may be known as the Live Music Capital of the World but you’re seriously mistaken if you think that’s all there is to this southern city! Austin is the capital of the US state of Texas. Home to hipsters and cowboys, Austin is wonderfully weird. Living as a student in Austin means immediately being exposed to a diverse and eccentric culture.

Whatever your preferred cuisine may be, you’re guaranteed to find it in Austin, and odds are, it’ll be the best you’ve ever had. In Austin, you definitely don’t have to empty your wallet to get a quality meal to soothe your stomach.

Here is a list of five amazing dishes under $10 in Austin, Texas:

1. Patrizi’s

Craving Italian but you don’t have the budget for Olive Garden? Head over to Patrizi’s Italian restaurants to get a taste of authentic Italian cuisine. The owner uses old family recipes, this is exactly what makes Patrizi’s different and unique! The Cacio e Pepe ($10.00) highlights the silky richness of the pasta with olive oil, piles of coarsely ground black, and liberal shavings of Grana Padano cheese.

2. Fresa’s Chicken al Carbon

Charcoal chicken joints and Austin almost go hand-in-hand! But this food joint and its Jerez Salad ($08.00) sets this place apart. This is one of the healthiest, quickest lunches you can get in town!

3. Dart Bowl

Lunching at an Austin institution, Dart Bowl Cafe. Famous for the Enchiladas but the burger is an unfussy solid choice too.

Dart Bowl is one of the most loved joints in Austin. You can find everything you love about the South right here!  Dart Bowl is best known for their Enchiladas ($5.95). One skillet cradles three enchiladas filled with onions and cheese, smothered in chili and more cheese. You can make it a full dinner with rice and beans for ($7.25) or top it with fried eggs for $1 more. Pair this with a Margarita from the bar and your night is set!

4. Roll on Sushi Diner

The best meal at the Roll on Sushi Diner isn’t even Asian, technically. The Beefy Texas Roll ($6.95) combines the best flavors from the South and the Asian delicacy. We know this sounds weird, but trust us, it somehow works perfectly!

5. Joe’s Bakery

The Migas Plate ($6.49) heaped with fluffy scrambled eggs, corn chips, and cheese (adding onions, tomatoes, and jalapeños are $0.30 more) is an obvious go-to dish at Joe’s Bakery, but the chorizo and eggs are also a great choice if you’re craving something a little greasier. After all, a little grease never hurt anybody, right?
